| | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,778 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,778 | It's supposed to take 15 PSI oil pressure in the main oil gallery to open the valve in the oil distributor to supply oil to the rocker arms. Anytime pressure dropped below that point (not uncommon on a spray oiler) oil flow was stopped to the rocker arms to save the lower end. Pretty smart engineering, actually! Rockers can survive much longer with minimal lubrication than the connecting rods can.
