Got hold of a 235 camshaft and ground matching flats on the 216 camshaft going in the engine. That didn't take nearly as long as waiting for the machine shop to turn the camshaft down for rod clearance. Got the camshaft reinstalled and the last two piston/rod assemblies and checked for clearance to the cam. All were good, so I can proceed with engine assembly. I need to order up valves for a valve job on the head, so that's the last thing that will go on.
Here's a couple pics of the clearance flats. They're not pretty, but the rods don't hit now.
