I think the key to all these air tools is oiling them often enough. Sometimes they sit in the toolbox drawer for months without use. I oil them just before I put them away. Heck, I use tranny fluid for lub in them.
This just brought up an old memory. I remember when I was back in trade school and we had a air tool demonstration buy some guys trying to get students money for their wonderful and expensive air tools. They asked what kind of oil you should use for air tools. Nobody raised their hands so I did. I told him "the oil recomended by the manufacturer". He gave me a dollar bill. Then all the guys started raising their hands to the questions...but, he didn't hand out any more dollar bills.
I haven't thought about that in 25 or so years.
