Good point Bill. I took those readings after cranking the engine a bit. This is an internal resistor coil, so it should start with battery voltage on both terminals, and then as it warms up the negative terminal going to the distributor should see voltage drop to 3 volts. I'll retest it at cold this morning and see if this coil is stuck at 3V all the time, or if it's delivering 12V for starting when cold.
