Here's an excerpt from the 1948-1949 wiring diagram with some colors added to help trace the wires.
The Red wire is from the Starter Switch terminal to the ammeter. The Green wire comes from the ammeter and goes thru the fuse terminal block to the horn to power it. The Blue wire comes off the ammeter terminal and goes to a splice, then to the voltage regulator, the light switch (power input), and to the input of the ignition terminal.
The wires marked with a triangle are only for trucks with a pushbutton start and solenoid.
