At this point I would crawl under the truck give the transmission a good cleaning and do a search for a data plate or any identifying numbers write down all the info that you find and identify it.
If it turns out that you have a five speed pull the floorboard cover and remove the top of the transmission and inspect it for anything that may be obviously wrong.
