Since you have a second axle, and surge brakes on only one of them, it might increase the versatility (and safety) of the setup to consider fitting electric brakes to the second axle. There's no law that says you HAVE to plug in the electric brakes unless you're dealing with a heavy load and/or steep downgrades. That's sort of a "belt and suspenders" approach, but I'm always a big fan or "redundancy" and/or "overkill". The time to discover you don't have quite enough brakes is not halfway down Wolf Creek Pass!
