Input shafts are as tough as woodpecker lips. One might break with enough force applied (tens of tons) but I've never heard of one bending. I've been known to suspend a heavy transmission with a cable come-along attached to a long 4 X 4 post resting of the window openings of the cab. An 8-footer allows both doors to be open for easy access to the inside.
