You can see the alternator is mounted in about the same place as the front of the original generator. Now look at the top brackets for 53-54, and 55-62 and you can get a sense of the arc, or lack of arc, you will need for the top bracket in order to have sufficient movement to adequately adjust the belt. https://www.alangrovecomponents.com/Chevy_Six_Cylinder.htm
