Good luck finding someone to insure a vehicle with a cobbled-together brake system! Even a fender bender with minor injuries would be an ambulance chaser's wet dream if the modified brakes (or suspension and/or steering) ever became known to the "injured" party! I've been on standby to be an "expert witness" several times when I was doing warranty claim investigations. All the cases were settled out of court once the legal beagles read my detailed written report on the systems I was hired to inspect. I don't think anyone wanted me to actually take the witness stand!
