Well, last year I did a crazy impulse buy and purchased a turbocharger. The plan was to install it on my little summer car. Figured with all the vehicles I had, it didn't really fit in anymore. So, it was going to become the "fun hot rod". At the time, I didn't put much thought into it and later felt stupid about it. That was made worse by it not fitting. The manifold points directly down, where the motor mount gets in the way. Now I have a useless turbo.
Then I got another thought. Could it work on a 292 six?
The turbo is supposed to be for a 1.5 up to a 2.5, but still seems a bit big for a 1.6, especially when I was going for a mild setup. However, I have heard that when going for a mild turbo, fuel efficiency increase or a faster spooling turbo, to go with a turbo that's one size smaller than what is recommended for the engine size.
However, 292 is 4.8L and wouldn't one size smaller be 3.0 to 4.0 sizes?
Would it still be big enough to have any positive effect or not?
I'm no turbocharge expert (like I said, I felt stupid) so I'm asking.
