Is the engine in the frame, or on a maintenance stand? Sometimes it's difficult to get a good pry on the flywheel if the engine is still installed. I like to use the chisel-shaped end of a shepherd's crook wrecking bar at least a couple of feet long, between the edge of the bottom of the bell housing and the starter ring gear teeth. Those teeth are pretty tough- - - -you can put a lot of force on them without doing any damage. Once the flywheel begins to move, even a little, be patient and keep working it back and forth.
