Is the float arm long enough for the float to touch the bottom of the tank and the top of the tank?
If not, you'll only get an approximation of fuel volume.
You can bend the arm if necessary or weld an addition to it if it isn't long enough.
Or buy one of those sending units that Jon Goodman recommends that has an adjustable arm for different applications.
