If I am understanding your question....the kit comes with a new crossmember that accommodates a new rack and pinion. The new rack bolts to the new crossmember and sits behind and clears the existing crossmember under the radiator....if that makes sense. The notches in the boxing plates require the frame rails to be notched to clear the new rack. The notch is close to the radiator crossmember but it does barely clear.
