My question and point has always been that in order to lower the GVW(R)it requires re-certification of the chassis. I really doubt that anyone here is prepared to do that as it is incredibly involved and astronomically expensive. It is why knowledgable people who are in the upfitting business and add tag axles for increased payload leave the stated GVWR as is. To change it would involve crash testing and a whole lot of things and places you don't want to go.
