I'm certainly not an expert on this subject, but I am old enough to remember when these trucks were in general use, and I don't ever remember their being a problem with the brakes. They were used for everything you can think of, because that is all there was, and I don't remember brakes being an issue. Getting up a long hill with a heavy load was another matter. They always got there, but it was best not to be behind one unless you had a little time on your hands. Allen
