There is a third choice that I always do. Pre-flared lengths from FLAPS. No leaks, no tools, no practice, not much money. Not as good looking as option 1 and 2 if someone climbs under there as says OMG!

O'Reilly's: American Grease Slick steel and PVF tubing. May need a couple of brass couplings.
Not for the purist I guess.
Definitely the best for deviations from stock plumbing.
Just remember, you don't find your bad DIY self flared connections/leaks until it's all together, filled and bled.
