Dave, this is just me and I have been accused of being a bit too risk tolerate. After a BAD experience with a blowout on the front of my dually at 70 mph I will not have old radials on our vehicles.
Bias ply tires are a totally different animal. I personally wouldn't be afraid to drive 10 year old (and beyond) quality bias ply tires that look good and have have been out of the sun on secondary roads. Your 5 year old tires would be good to go at my place.
