And your pickup will have the same problem, only worse, because more of the total weight of the vehicle is on the front instead of the rear.
Other factors, such as tire size and suspension design have an impact too, but any one of those can limit acceleration if you can't get the tires to stick as a result.
I don't get excited by Mustangs either, but physics has more to do with performance than brand logos. The front/rear weight distribution is going to favor the Mustang over the pickup unless you've loaded the bed up and then the added weight works against you.
