A wiring diagram for your truck should help you (and those who are helping you). This one is pretty good (has a few small errors but is still a help)

You can see one dark green wire from the coil to the starter R terminal. The resistance wire runs from the starter R terminal to the firewall connector. Inside the cab, the wire is pink.
