I have seen posts where a 20 Ton press didn't do the job. I have not seen a post where a 30 Ton press didn't work. I took my 38 kingpins out with my 30 Ton press and I was pushing on the jack handle pretty hard before it budged. One side took a lot more force than the other.
There have been discussions about floating bushings. I get the impression the the bushing can move relative to the spindle, enough to wear the spindle, and that becomes a problem. I think the original design idea was to allow for easy replacement without the need for machining.
