Note to Kevin: Why are you needing to hold the head with vice grips? If it spins, it breaks off or the whole screw is tightening? If the screw is not threaded into threads on the emblem, my question is moot.
Bartamos, Tom started out asking about how to get the hood latch panel out to get to the screws holding the emblem on. The emblem is just fastened thru the hood outer sheet metal with screws from the back side into female threads on the emblem. I initially thought that all those pieces, (rod style braces and hood latch panel) had flat head screws and nuts, so when drilling off the head, at times, the whole thing will spin in the hole and you'll either need to hold on to the screw head or the nut so the drill will bite and get the head loose from the screw shank.
I'll admit that drilling out a head doesn't always work.
Tom, I'd recommend a 3" cutoff tool with a 1/16" disk to go thru the front of the emblem. Never fear, you'll get 'er done.
