I've used muratic acid to remove rust from various projects. Always outdoors. Nuts, bolts, tools, etc. Have also used it to clean gutted transmission casings and such. Like I stated, outside and used rubber gloves. Definitely have to use the baking soda or it will rust up again very quickly. Used sand blasting, wire brushes, bench grinder wire wheels, everything has some negative sides to it. The bench grinder wire wheel gets used a lot.
