Several years ago I used Muriatic Acid as a washing step to remove rust from the inside of my 1965 gas tank. My Eastwood kit outlined the directions as to how it should be done but did not supply the acid.
Not long after that, I read that people sometimes remove rust from parts using apple cider vinegar, or molasses, or phosphoric acid, or naval jelly, or even a battery charger and a few chemicals. They each claimed success too.
I recently started sorting bolts. Lots of rusty bolts.
Here's what I decided to try. It works great. Fast. Pretty cheap. But don't take any risks. Make sure you wear protection.
