I've lost some of my best stuff by an inadvertent fat finger, not to say that happened to you LOL....
Actually I'm fine if there's minimal to no heat flow though the intakes exhaust crossover passage under the carb.
Back in the 70's I did some line automotive parts swapping work for a living, mainly brakes & tuneups and don't ever recall running across or having to replace an exhaust diverter valve on a V8 Chevy. Course vehicles of that era had a nightmare of plumbing, vacuum controls, air pumps and other abortions of engineering in trying to make carburated engines compliant and I learned early on not to fix something that wasn't broke. That and the mixture of SAE & Metric drove me into the communications trade......
Anyways on an unrelated note. I got so tied up with this GMC that I wasn't able to take as much advantage of one of the best growing seasons we've had around these parts in years. We've actually experienced one of the wettest July's on record. That said and even tho it's late, I just may have some Indian corn for autumn display. It sure took it's time breaking through....
