I would say yes on the heavy oil and lower fuel mileage. I have seen race cars sheer the oil pump drive from to much oil pressure, and oil filters blown up from the same high pressure. If pressure can damage these items, it should effect fuel mileage just as easy. Can I prove it, NO, but the OEM's didn't change to lighter oil just for the fun of it.
