"I built the dual manifold I am running, and have it mounted to a stock exhaust manifold."

Rusty,

If you can get Joe to send you a photo of the manifold he built you will be very impressed. It's really a thing of beauty.

Being a geologist, not a mechanic, I'm not an expert in carburetion or any other aspect of engine theory. However, I can state from personal experience that the Carter W-1 is very basic and easy to work on, From the ones I have used it appears that main jets and metering rods are interchangeable between all W-1 carburetors, making tuning pretty basic. The throttle shaft and accelerator pump/metering rod bell crank shaft bores are usually worn out but putting in bushings eliminates the looseness. A Rochester Quadrajet throttle shaft bushing fits the W-1 throttle shaft nicely.

I'll let others more knowledgeable than I comment on the power potential of increased carburetion. I've found a performance improvement from ducting cool ambient air to the carburetor. There is actually a slight ram effect also from picking up the ambient air at various places around the front or cowl of a vehicle. Joe has extensive experience in drag racing and can probably comment on that.
