The dual valve springs on the Corvette really had me curious. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how two springs could be used on each valve. So I did a little research and thought I'd share.
There are some high performance springs out there that are a spring within a spring. One goes inside the other. The inner spring is coiled in the opposite direction as the outer spring. The inner spring looks to be made of thinner gauge wire than the outer spring, almost as though it is a helper spring.
Anyhow, I guess that's how you'd have two springs per valve on the old six cylinder corvettes with 'normal' heads...one inside the other.
