The ones that really ate pistons were the 1955 and 56 265 V8's- - - - -same problem, not enough aluminum surrounding the strut that made the egg-shaped cam ground piston get round when it got hot. the average was 2 or sometimes three cracked pistons per engine. 235's weren't as bad, but the same companies contracted with GM to make 235 pistons as the V8's.
