I know nothing about building motors... I had a great shop rebuild my 292 stock, and with a SM420 tranny, now that it's tuned right with the rebuilt single barrel Rochester B carb it'll lurch the 3-ton chassis pretty good if I'm not gentle with the clutch off the block in 2nd.
Guess I'm saying with the amount of torque this sucker produces, unless you plan on racing or dragging this vehicle a near stock build with good gears for what you want behind it would work fine.
