I have the exact same issued you described. If I shut if off it will crank right back up, but if it got up to 180 and is shut off for more than 5 minutes, it is much harder to crank. After about 20-30 minutes of cooling, it will fire right back up. Mine is a 1953 235 in a 1946 truck.
