Sometimes after a long run on a hot day I'll restart my truck after it's set for 10 or 15 minutes. I let it run for about 5 or 10 seconds, just enough to clear out the excess gas, but not long enough to create any heat. I don't do it often except on extremely hot days partly to cycle the coolant to avoid hot spots in the otherwise uncirculated coolant.
