Well, one tiny step forward, three leaps backwards, or so it seems. The "brief" smooth engine start as yet to be replicated. Not sure what the conditions were that allowed that to happen, but now various adjustments I'm sure have sent me well past that particular happy point.
In the process of trying to start the engine, we had water/coolant coming out of the water inlet gasket. Got that sort of sealed up, then it was leaking from the water pump gasket. Got that sealed up, now it appears to be leaking from around the pulley? How does one resolve that?
Hopefully, going to get a rebuilt carb put on next week and see what difference that makes.
