Hey, what is the correct way to clean the cylinders (and why not the gas?)

As an update, I have been spending whatever free time I have had the past few weeks cleaning the motor. I scraped and turned and picked every flake of rust I could find. I even used and ice pick like a dental tool. Then I soaked in diesel, and repeated, multiple times. I think it is clean. I can turn the motor with the starter. I did one last soak in diesel this weekend. I am goign to drain it, pull the oil pump, clean that up, and then put it all together. At his point, it will either fire and run, or not, and I will go from there.

My only real question is how to clean the MMO and Kroil out of the cylinders? My uncle wants to put gas in to mix with the oils, and leave the plugs out so that some can evaporate after spinning again. We also talked about spinning each piston high, one at a time, and trying to soak/suck whatever oil is on top out.

Thanks, and I will let you know how the test fire goes.

5. The crisis is over, now you know that eventually, AFTER it rolls around and around by hand, and AFTER the real Kroil soak for two days, you can use the starter and let all that crap blow out the plug holes. Then wash the cylinders with whatever will clean them (not gas). Then I would put two squirts of motor oil in each cylinder and crank it a bunch. Then I would be sure there is new oil in crank case, water in rad and gas in a gas can, sitting on the ground, with a hose attached to the pump inlet, and start it up and watch the temp and oil pressure until it stops smoking and drink more whiskey (in my case Diet Dr.Pepper) to celebrate. Drive it when gas tank and filters are clean. You know not to run it on an old gas tank no matter what, right?
