A 1955 235 does not need an adaptor to work with the original Powerglide transmission. I can't imagine a 235 having enough to power to shear any bolts. Does still have the original torque tube?
Honestly I could not be sure. It was down to frame at one point and so many new parts were placed. Probably not from torque (though she is peppy and I won't lie about my driving habits. May slow down for a while after this). I wonder if maybe just not tight enough after build and punching it too much? IDK
