In my opinion, there are two types of regulators for GM vehicles- - - -Delco, and "wrong". I've had very bad luck with aftermarket regulators, even the supposedly good ones like Blue Streak. There are about 20 suitable Delco regulators on ebay right now, some of them "new old stock". Any 12V negative ground regulator in the 30-40 amp range should work, even if it happens to be listed for a non-Chevy application like Buick, Cadillac, Olds, or even International Harvester or Hudson. The only precaution I can think of is if you're using a "heavy duty" double-contact regulator, disconnect the field wire at the regulator before grounding it to check the generator output.
