I believe the T221 Xfer case was used thru the 60's with V8's in Chevys and Big Block V6's in GMC's. The V8 was 283, not a torquer.
Not as much torque as the available 292 6cyl. A 283 would be super cool motor for your truck. Nice sound, manly looks.
