All driveline components are rated for a certain amount of torque, with a bit of a safety margin built in for unforeseen situations. Hotrodding anything, whether it's an engine, a transmission, transfer case, driveshaft, or even a radiator uses up some, or sometimes all of that safety zone. Some parts are way over-built such as the SM-420 transmission. They're just about bulletproof, no matter what engine they're coupled up with. transfer cases, front and rear axles, and driveshafts- - - -that's another matter entirely. I wouldn't be surprised to see that you have some chronic failures of very scarce, expensive parts with V8 power.
