Jackie, I have a 52 3100 panel. To help understand it better I can put the hub on the spindle and then put on the drum.
My hubs have three little "pins" that will fit in three small holes in the drum when you put the drum on and twist it to line up studs.

When reading the manual be sure to always make sure its talking about your truck as in 1/2 ton 3/4ton an so on.

If you do not have a service manual I'd suggest book marking the Online Service Manuals for future reference.
