After looking at the link pvfjr sent I got brave and pulled the stick out. Well the slots that the roll pins ride in are totally shot looks like I got some welding to do and some filling to do. I'll try and take some pic's as I go along and post them that might help someone down the line. thanks again.
I was going to suggest checking that. I ran into that on my '67 GMC pickup when I got it. My brother who is a welder filled in those slots. Made all the difference in the world.
