Regarding where the tip of the tail-pipe points: I bought a supposedly NOS replacement 1954 tail pipe. It's bend matches the 54/55 bend shown in the FAM. That tail-pipe is now on the rolling chassis of my 54 3100 Hydramatic.
The rolling chassis (with all new or rebuilt parts) is now in its new garage in NC.
