Thanks to those who insisted I do it on my 235. The "pipe" was really full of sludge. After I did it the oil flowed like water.

Question: When I took the assembly off the push rods went slack and when I re-assembled and primed the oil pump the rods were not slack. Is this just compression?

these two holes were the distributor mount I am guessing but how do I plug them as they run into the valve chamber?

Is this oil feed rod (I don't know what it's called) supposed to be crimped like this?
