Have you run a tap into the bolt holes? Do as Don mentions, and avoid stacking gaskets. Aftermarket gaskets were generally made to accommodate some warping. The only gaskets really stackable are the embossed metal ones. In fact, many OEM gaskets were metal, while the aftermarket parts were composite. Don't know it the metal ones are available to be used for shims.
