TC, if you think the metal gaskets were thicker, I would guess that your measurements include the height of the embossment. The metal gaskets were normally made of 0.015 or 0.020" metal, and the embossment will compress significantly during installation. Unless you had a set with more than one layer, or individual grommets at the ports.
