You all have been very lucky if you've not experienced any trouble with the ethanol fuels.
Keep driving long enough, you will.
The fuel here in our neck of the woods will go bad fast. As another poster said it gets dark in color, and gums up everything.
Rubber tipped needles in the carbs are a no-no. When I rebuild a carburetor I have to hunt to find a kit with a metal tipped needle, and even then if it's not run regularly it will mess up the carb.
Rubber fuel lines get hard and brittle. Seen a few engine fires because the rubber line broke. I check the fuel lines every 6 months and replace as needed.
The barrier hose helps when you can get it.
Fuel mileage suffers, rubber parts fail sooner, goes bad sooner. Nothing good about the ethanol fuels.
