Could it be some has to do with the cooler weather you two may encounter?
Here in the Texas heat if you let that gas set up for six months you might as well break everything down because it will be gummed up.
Perhaps too is a formulation difference between areas.
Not sure what it is, but here in the 100 degree heat, it doesn;t take long the ethanol makes its presence known.
