Are you still running 6 volt system? If so, have new cables been added? Did you use the large cables? 4 gauge cables just won't cut it on a 6 volt system. Have the battery tested to make sure it has the amperage it needs to turn the engine over.

And it could be the starter is just no longer up to the challenge.
