A substitution bolt done well can work for years. My original didn't have that bolt with hole so I kerfed two washers, the cable sandwiched in between. I added two more nuts and a nylock nut. Complicated solution but worked for several years till I found the real one which is beautifully simple. Smooth action in the range of motion is the key for the home-made unit.
