Align honing is a newer modern technique and was not performed from the factory on any engines, its only done in the aftermarket workplace or rebuilder shops. They are only line bored to size and sent to the next machining operation. The stepped size main journal was common to all of the GM inlines of that era with the GMC's, Straight 8 Buick, Straight 6 & 8 Pontiac's and Straight 8 Olds as well as the Stovebolt's.
