I owned a 1951 half ton Chevy pickup in highschool...many years ago. So this year when my sister told me about an old Chevy pickup on the the sheepfarm where she works, I had to go check it out. Its a 52 half ton..kinda...with a 1960 bed, one ton rear axle and 1950 235 and transmission. I got in touch with the owner and what I lovingly refer to as the Idaho sheep shot is mine...Now what? Well I trailered it home and am now going through a frame up resto. But I decided the cab and fenders have so much character, I want to keep them just as they are. So, this will be a ratresto '52. Oh wow, I'm a sucker for the un-restored look. That's purdy.

Nice find spudnut, i've never seen a TF rear on an AD chassis...
Will you keep it this way?
The patina looks great and it doesn't look in too bad shape.

Wow! I love that paint! It took 60 years of Mother Natures relentless work and the occasional help of a previous owner here and there to get the paint to look that cool.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm really happy to have the 52. Lot's of rust underneath so I'll cut that out and replace the bad panels. I pulled the TF bed and sold it to a guy restoring his 56 so the TF bed will live on. I've got a 51 bed and picked up some rough rear fenders from a local salvage yard. I'll also keep the massive diamond plate rear bumper. The 50 235 is frozen up but I've got a rebuilt 53 235 with fresh paint ready to go. The rear spring mounts were moved out to accept a one ton rear axle. I've pulled that and replaced it with a stock 52 torque tube. Having a great time...plan to scrape and paint everything underneath and refinish the interior. Exterior will stay like it is except for new bed wood and of course new tires...there's my rat-resto..
